morning. california especially the bay area saw tough congressional races, including one upset due to new primary runoff system. katie marzullo joins us with a closer look. >> reporter: this is the house of representatives map. here's what won't surprise you, blue, blue, blue, the whole bay area voting democrat. we want to focus on three races starting in district three. he has held state or federal office for 40 years and he hangs on to it in a close race you can see the numbers five -54% to the republican's 46% she is someone who national republicans thought would give them a good chance of getting a seat in the house that would not be the case. in the east bay to district 9 this was tricky, lines have been newly redrawn people thought the incumbent mcinnerney wouldn't be able to

hold on to his seat, he does he wins 54% to gill's 46% in district 9. district 15, massive upset maybe the biggest in the state. pete stark who has held the office since 1973 known as dean of california delegation is out and he loses to fellow democrat due to the new primary system democrat vs. department vat, 50 years younger than stark wins he says he will buy new energy and new jobs. he take -- he will bring new energy and new jobs, big upset in the house of representatives. coming up we look at the popular vote and look specifically at the bay area and how different count -- how popular i should say president obama was in different counties within the bay area. the controversial question over whether to ray the minimum wage by two dollars in

san jose was put to voters. the outcome yes 59%, no 41%. terry mcsweeney is live in san jose with more. >> reporter: what this is going to mean for someone like a food server, a 25% pay increase. she is getting off work in half an hour from now, going home to get her kids ready for school, huge deal for her. video of others who are going to benefit from the passage of measure d taking the minimum wage from $8 to $10 per hour, big raise, if you are working 40 hours a week, $80 more in your paycheck, before taxes. small businesses and chamber of commerce said the choice was not a choice between a raise and no raise for minimum wage workers. it is a choice between jobs or no jobs. >> these are the folks who

more or less rely on minimum wage workers. they will have to scale back operations and of course as they scale back operations it is already noted that means fewer jobs for minimum wage workers. >> reporter: union and social service as agencies supported it. the mayor opposed it in addition to the increase and the hurt it might put on small businesses also withing to cost $600,000 for the city to supervise this. right now, voters are passing measure d. terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. californians overcame decades of anti-tax meant and approved the first general tax in 20 years. prop 30 passed, raising tacks to rescue schools. the measure to increase sales tax and raise income taxes was called an hour ago after votes went mostly in favor of it, right now 77% of precincts reporting, prop 30 has a margin of 6%.

labor groups overcame heavy funding from outside groups to defeat prop 32. that would change the way political contributions are made and restrict union donations. prop 32 is losing by an 8 point margin. voters in -- rejected prop 33, it would have allowed car insurers to offer discounts to drivers who maintain continuous coverage. no 55%. it was decisive victory for senator feinstein who will return to washington for her 4th term. feinstein was farber known and better financed. >> -- >> voters face several tax

measures. santa clara county's measure a ruts show this would hike sales tax by -- results show this would hike sales tax winning by 56% to 44%. san mateo county yes to transaction and use tax if appointed measure a would increase sales tax by half a cent to pay for general services winning by 35%. in contra costa county, measure q, for the fire district also winning by slight margin. now results on the san francisco propositions. parks and rec bond measure the one where you would improve safety and quality of parks across the country with a 195 million dollar bond that passed by wide margin, 72%. san francisco gross receipts tax also passed by huge margin,

president obama was within the bay area starting with san francisco county, landslide, mitt romney was less than 14% of the popular vote. north into marin still landslide for president obama 76%. in the east bay contra costa county mitt romney more than 30% dropped to alameda and his numbers drop. in the south bay, san mateo county landslide for president obama, santa cruz county, same thing. just for fun, look at these two counties which seem to buck the trend. this is stan laws county red for mitt romney, -- stanislaus county red for mitt romney. below merced, went blue for president obama jetting east just barely with president obama getting 53% of the popular vote. coming up at 6:00 we head to
